Experts, authorities, companies, and investors from various countries will analyze ‘The Intersection of Latin America’s Energy Mix and Global Decarbonization.

The city of Asunción, Paraguay, is preparing to be the epicenter of a significant event that will bring together leaders and experts from the energy industry and sources of investment in natural gas, solar energy, wind energy, hydroelectric power, green hydrogen, and critical materials for the energy transition, both from Latin America and other parts of the world. Under the theme ‘The Intersection of Latin America’s Energy Mix and Global Decarbonization,’ this forum is a unique meeting space where the most current trends and prospects in the energy sector will be explored.

Paraguay was chosen due to its favorable business climate and political and economic stability, in addition to its strategic location between two major markets, Brazil and Argentina, and being a global destination that everyone wants to know or return to. President Santiago Peña has expressed that “attracting investments is a priority for his government”, and the forum aims to leverage this openness to attract entrepreneurs from Latin America, the Caribbean, the United States, and globally, thanks to its industry-level partnerships and relationships.

This event, which will take place from April 8 to 10, 2024, at La Galería Hotel & Convention in Asunción, marks a milestone in the discussion of the energy transition in the region and addresses the challenges and opportunities that Latin America faces in the context of the global evolution towards a more sustainable and decarbonized economy.

IGEF organizes the 16th International Gas and Energy Forum – International Gas & Energy Forum, based in Houston, Texas, United States, an entity with a long-standing track record of over two decades serving the energy industry and committed to sustainable development and adopting cleaner energy sources. In this context, the forum presents itself as a space for reflection and debate on achieving the global decarbonization goals proposed by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The event program includes a variety of relevant topics, such as the decarbonization of the hydrocarbon industry in the energy transition, the role of mixed or hybrid energy scenarios, energy security, and the reuse of natural gas infrastructure for hydrogen production. It will also provide a good opportunity for investment entities to explore Paraguay’s hydrocarbon potential and strengthen its energy matrix.

The forum will also address global topics, such as the state of green hydrogen at the global and regional levels and the relationship between clean energy, water, and green hydrogen investment projects in Paraguay. The capacity and expansion of solar and wind energy sources in the energy mix of Latin America and the Caribbean will be discussed, along with the crucial role of the electrical system in achieving net-zero goals.

In addition to lectures and panels, the event will offer interactive workshops that explore new frontiers in the oil and gas industry in Guyana, Suriname, and the Caribbean, as well as carbon capture technologies and the supply chain of critical raw materials for the energy transition.

This forum is characterized by its focus on innovation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, allowing participants to establish strategic alliances and lead the transformation of the energy industry. The ‘Paraguayan Night’ will be a unique networking moment that encourages interaction and exchanging ideas among participants.”
